About the Event

We would love for you to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime 2026, with us as we read Luna Roo: the kangaroo baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake A Minton.

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual event established by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) to:

  • promote the value and importance of reading and literacy,
  • promote the value and fun of books,
  • share a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator
  • celebrate Storytime activities in communities around the country,
  • and involve parents, caregivers and others in the delight of reading with children.

In 2026, we’re celebrating NSS with Storytime events at:

About the Book – Luna Roo: the kangaroo baller
The temperature is dropping on a cold red night.
Two teams will bring on the heat and fire. Two teams will bring on the fight.
Flames of glory await us. Ambitions are ignited.
You’re watching FC Outback versus Bush United.

Rookie captain Luna Roo leaves nothing on the pitch as she leads FC Outback in a thrilling face-off against Bush United. Faced with a spider goalkeeper, snakes in attack and bubbling nerves, Luna must trust her skills and her teammates to soar to victory.

Written by football veterans Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, Luna Roo captures all the intense excitement of the game, with a heartwarming message that courage and determination are a winning combination.

About the Authors
Adam Jackson has worked in football for nearly 20 years, starting his career at Manchester United then moving to Australia to work in sports publishing. He is currently the Head of Marketing at global sports broadcaster beIN SPORTS.

Adrian Lloyd is a Football Association qualified coach. He has coached children in the United States for two years as well as coached Fulham FC in London. Adrian has also spent the last twenty years working in publishing, marketing and digital advertising.
