This year, we’re inviting the community to come together at Coodanup Foreshore Reserve to help plant 2,000+ native seedlings. This important planting will help enhance the foreshore, support local wildlife habitat, and strengthen the natural resilience of the area.
While National Tree Day is known for planting trees, this event will focus on low-growing native shrubs and reeds, which play a vital role in protecting our wetlands.
About the event
Our natural spaces do more than just look good; they help cool our suburbs, support wildlife, and create places the community can enjoy. By taking part in this year’s planting, you’ll be contributing to a healthier, more resilient foreshore for everyone.
This is a free, family-friendly event, and no experience is needed. Just come along and get involved!
There will be plenty to enjoy on the day, including:
- Community planting of native seedlings
- Free sausage sizzle hosted by the Mayor and Elected Members
- Seedling giveaway (take one home!)
- Educational and environmental stalls
- Opportunity to chat with our Landscape Services team about the Coodanup Foreshore Upgrade (Stage 5)
What to bring
- Comfortable, enclosed shoes
- Weather-ready gear (hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, raincoat, umbrella)
- Reusable water bottle
- Gloves and protective eye wear (optional)
- All planting equipment will be provided on-site.
Accessibility
- A Visual Story explains new experiences and environments and is helpful for people who prefer to know what will happen before attending a new place or event. A Visual Story for National Tree Day will be available soon.
- An event map will be available soon for easy navigation.
- A communication board will be available and a printout can be collected at the event.
- Need to take a break? A Chill Out Zone with bean bags, noise reduction earmuffs, and sensory activities will be available.
- There will be two Universal Access Toilets at this location.
- Accessible parking is available.
- Footpaths connect all areas and activities
- First aid will be on-site.
Please get in touch if you would like to organise alternative arrangements.
Everyone is welcome; bring your family, friends, and pets (on a lead). It’s a great way to spend time outdoors and give back to the environment.
National Tree Day is a chance to take simple, positive action for our environment. By helping plant native seedlings, you’ll be supporting biodiversity, protecting our wetlands, and contributing to a greener future.
We hope to see you there!
