Coodanup Foreshore transformation reaches milestone with Stage 3 works complete

The refreshed Coodanup Foreshore is looking better than ever, with Stage 3 of the Coodanup Foreshore Master Plan recently completed along Peel Parade.

These latest works continue the transformation of the foreshore into a welcoming, connected and accessible space for the community to enjoy.

Completed features now include a new playground, picnic shelters, barbecues, bike racks, improved path connections and upgraded public amenities, all designed to encourage greater use of this much-loved area.

The most recent stage of works, between Wanjeep Street and the playground, has delivered new concrete pathways, additional picnic and viewing areas, a formalised car park and improved accessibility to the Peel Harvey Estuary. More seating has also been added, providing additional opportunities to pause, take in the views and enjoy the surroundings. Visitors also now have easier access to the much-loved Giant Yaburgurt Cirkelstone while exploring the area.

A standout feature of this stage is the installation of a new public artwork celebrating Coodanup’s strong connection to nature and birdlife. Created by artists Neil and Kallie Turner, the sculpture tells the story of 22 species of migratory shorebirds that travel thousands of kilometres each year from Alaska and Siberia to Coodanup.

Flowing steel loops represent birds flying together, with silhouettes of the bar-tailed godwit - one of the world’s great long-distance travellers - featured prominently.

The artwork and upgrades together highlight the beauty and ecological significance of the foreshore, creating a space the whole community can enjoy.
