About the event
Me at 3 is a weekly program, run during the school term for children and their parents and carers. The fun and engaging program will help children develop essential skills in preparation for attending school (Kindy/Pre-Primary).
Some of the skills we will help build upon include:
- Basics of the alphabet, pattern recognition and phonic sounds.
- Recognising numbers 1-10 and counting in sequence.
- Developing fine motor skills, using scissors, utensils, buttons.
- Learning to share, emotion regulation and communication skills.
Each lesson will focus on either a letter, number or colour and incorporate fine motor skills through crafts or tabletop activities.
Week One will focus on the letter “A”. We will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, sing food and bug themed songs before practicing our counting and phonic goals. Children will then be invited to create an apple themed craft or explore threading and pattern making at our activity tables.
When: Every Thursday (during school term only)
Time: 10.30am to 11.00am
Where: Mandurah Library
To help guide these lessons, we have referred to Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority’s (ACECQA) Developmental Milestones Document.
Developmental Milestones EYLF and NQS document
ACECQA is the independent national authority that assists governments in administering the National Quality Framework (NQF) for children's education and care.
